A sea-mist rolled in over the Straits of Gibraltar last night, blanketing the rock. Everything is subtley different, especially the sounds. Even the tankers’ foghorns are distant and muted, like ghost-ships out there somewhere, crossing between a mythical Atlantic and a fantastic Meditteranean. Meanwhile the air is full of moisture, in fact, it’s gravid with water: this morning it felt more like swimming than running, more like drinking than breathing.
The forecast of course is for mid thirties celsius and sunny, so the mist will have burned off by mid-morning - but it certainly made for a change.

Exciting finish to a game that the Twins had in their pocket for five innings but in the end had to dig deep and play some great small ball to get the win.

Yesterday’s doom and gloom dispelled with an unlikely shut-out of the Yankees while the Red Sox beat the CWS, Twins into the ALC lead again. This one is going to go right to September one suspects.
Truly a case of sport inversely reflecting life!

Very disappointing loss, this game should have been done and dusted, alas two very costly fielding errors - and leaving ten men on - led to dropping with W. With CWS beating the Red Sox, it’s back to half a game out of the ALC lead - with three games against the Yankees coming up, and look how well we played against them last time we met…

Second straight win for Liriano means another series the Twins can’t lose, leading 2-0 with one game to play.
Red Sox also beat CWS so the Twins take the lead of the ALC again, by half a game. Day games on Sunday against the same opponents - KC for us, Red Sox for CWS - so possibly a chance to consolidate the lead for a change rather than letting it slip straight back…
